At this site, a retail store was established by Joseph B. Boyd in 1888 after Patrick McHugh in 1887. It became the Golden Rule Store under John J. and Richard Boyd in 1925, was associated with Kathren Boyd in 1936, and later housed the JC Penny Store under Richard S. Johnson in 1974. Jon Brosseau is listed in 1992, and in 2000 Wm. Bodelson, Hans and Diane Reinhardt divided the building into five stores. On Sept. 5th, 2004, it was destroyed by fire.
