Finn Creek Museum, about six miles southeast of New York Mills, Minnesota, preserves the lives of early Finnish immigrants through a historic farmstead. The site grew from eighty acres bought in 1900 by Siifert and Wilhelmiina Tapio, who built a house, farmed the land, and raised their family there. In 1975, the State Finnish American Historical Society acquired part of the property and later expanded it, restoring the surviving buildings to reflect the era when Finnish settlement shaped the surrounding countryside. Volunteers maintain the site and link it to contemporary Finland, while an annual late-August festival celebrates Finnish-American culture with music, food, demonstrations, and traditional goods.
