Tims Ford State Rustic Park opened on September 1, 1978, under Governor Ray Blanton and Commissioner of Conservation B. R. Allison. Consisting of approximately 1000 acres, the rustic park was built by the Department of Conservation for the leisure pursuits of the citizenry of Tennessee.
