The Booker T. Washington School was built in 1903 for grades 1-8. By 1931 it included a four year high school at its Central Ave & 7th ST location. All Boyd Co. schools were not integrated until 1962. In that year, Booker T. Washington closed. The school served Ashland's African-American citizens for many decades.
