First Christian Church was organized in 1907 under board chairman Sam Anderson. A schoolhouse was used for services until 1909, when the church was built. W.C. Wright was called as the first minister. It is the oldest church building in the city continuously in use. It was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1967.
