Craven E. Williams Observatory at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, was built in 1990 and named for the university’s ninth president. Equipped with a 16-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, it supports both campus astronomy and public viewing. The observatory also serves as home to the Cleveland County Astronomical Society, connecting the university with a broader community of amateur and professional skywatchers. Still active as an educational and community space, it hosts monthly open houses for observing sessions and has been maintained and opened to the campus and community by university astronomer and science professor Dr. Don Olive.
