Mike Macario purchased the An-2 from the Air Mobility Command Museum in Dover, Delaware, and donated it to the Massey Museum in the name of his mother, Katherine "Kate" Macario. A longtime friend of Massey Aerodrome, Kate Macario died on September 6, 2019. She regularly flew to the fly-ins in her Cessna 195 and was a pioneer with the 99's. After the Air Mobility Command Museum determined that a Russian plane did not belong in its collection and planned to dispose of it, Mike saved it from likely being scrapped. It was moved from Dover to Massey on February 24, 2020.
