Established as Meredith Cemetery, this burial ground’s first recorded interment was Sarah Hoge Meredith, who died August 25, 1836. The Griffin family donated the land, and the cemetery has remained in continuous use since its founding. An annual memorial service has been held here since before the Civil War.
