Military
5
Established by Samuel Goodwin in 1780 at the site of Old Boston, Goodwin Fort was an important link with other stations encircling future Bardstown and became a refuge for pioneers in the area. The fort was raided by Indians in July 1781. Peter Kennedy led the reprisal against the Indians but was captured. After two years he escaped, and though pursued by Indians, he warned settlers, who repelled the attack.
