Mount David is a 7,420-foot summit in Washington’s Glacier Peak Wilderness and the highest point on Wenatchee Ridge in the North Cascades. Rising above tributaries of the White River, it stands out less for statewide elevation than for dramatic local relief, climbing about 5,100 feet above the White River Valley in only two miles. The mountain is approached by the demanding seven-mile Mount David Trail. Albert Hale Sylvester, a surveyor, explorer, topographer, and forest supervisor who named thousands of Cascade features, gave it the biblical name David. Its rugged landscape reflects uplift, faulting, repeated Pleistocene glaciation, and the influence of nearby Glacier Peak.
