The Lewis County Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, erected in 1883, bears the names of Lewis County residents who served in the American Civil War and identifies several battles in which they fought, including Five Forks, Antietam, Gettysburg, and Wilderness. It also includes the inscription, “On Fame’s Eternal camping ground, their silent tents are spread, and Glory guards with solemn round the Bivouac of the Dead.” It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
