Willis P. Menefee and his mother Nancy Collier Menefee are buried here. Nancy Collier Menefee lived from Feb. 6, 1771 to Dec. 2, 1852. Major Menefee donated his land for businesses, schools, parks, and the Palmetto Methodist Church, and he gave all land necessary for the Atlanta and LaGrange Railroad. Because of Major Menefee, a spirit of kindness and generosity still prevails in Palmetto.
