La Nube is a bilingual children’s museum and science center in downtown El Paso created through the city’s 2012 quality-of-life bond program and later expanded through public funding and private fundraising. Built on the site of a former Greyhound maintenance facility, it took shape after a 2017 design selection and evolved into a four-story, cloud-like building with glass walls, outdoor exhibits, and an atrium centered on a large climbing structure. Delayed by the pandemic and a 2023 fire, it opened on August 10, 2024. With science-themed exhibit zones, accessibility features, and local art, it was intended as both a family destination and a cultural investment for downtown El Paso.
