The F-4 was first developed for the U.S. Navy in 1958 and entered service in 1961. In 1963, the U.S.A.F. received a modified version of the Navy F-4B called the F-4C. It was equipped to deliver air-to-ground and air-to-air missiles, rockets, bombs, mines, or nuclear weapons, and a 20 mm gun pod could be carried on a centerline pylon. Its crew consisted of a pilot in the front seat and a weapons systems officer in the rear seat. The aircraft is an F-4C(GF), serial number 63-7702, manufactured by McDonald Aircraft and received by the U.S.A.F. on 9 Feb 1965. From 1965 through 1967 it was stationed at George AFB, California, Nellis AFB, Nevada, Davis Monthan AFB, Arizona, and Little Rock AFB, Arkansas. In 1968 it served at Misawa AB, Japan, Kunsan AB, Korea, and Taegu AB, Korea. In 1969 it served in the 12th Tactical Wing at Cam Ranh Bay AB, Vietnam. From 1970 through 1984, its stations included George AFB, California, and Luke AFB, Arizona. In 1985 it went to Naval Air Station, Ellington, Texas, and Sheppard AFB, Texas.
