The Convair YF-2Y Sea Dart was a U.S. Navy experimental seaplane from circa 1955 with a crew of one. Designed as a water-based fighter, it took off and landed on a pair of retractable hydro-skis. It was powered by two Westinghouse J-46-WE-32 turbojets producing 3400 lbs. of thrust each, had a maximum speed of 825 mph, a range of 513 miles, and dimensions of 33' 8" wingspan, 52' 7" length, and 20' 9" height with skis extended. Underpowered and subject to heavy vibration during takeoff, the aircraft was difficult to control on the water, and the program was cancelled in 1956. Five were built and four survive. Bureau #135763 was the ground test vehicle and never flew.
