Historic Lions Park has been home to the Sweet Corn Festival since 1954, an annual fundraising project of the Millersport Lions Club. Founded in 1946, this community celebration has been held the week before Labor Day and officially signifies the end of summer for Buckeye Lake. Traditions such as a grand parade, square dancing, varied foods, and hot buttered sweet corn have been hallmarks of the festival's success, and many legends of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville have performed there. The Millersport Lions Club maintains the park for family and community recreational and social activities. Construction of the Lions Clubhouse in 1964 provided residents with a banquet hall that also serves as a senior citizens center. The park was originally the site of the Mast Homestead. Beginning with the relocation of the Charles Holliday covered bridge in 1981, the Millersport Lions Club also undertook preservation of local history by moving and restoring landmarks to the park, including the Slater gas filling station from Route 37, the first Walnut Township building, a cabin from an old canal boat, the old food store in Millersport, and stone used in the Minthorn Lock on the north side of the lake.
