Pioneer Road connected the historic community of Slaterville from east to west. Early pioneers constructed this winding country road, which was lined with nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century homes as well as thriving farms. Among the earliest pioneer settlers in Slaterville were the Allred, Holley, Knight, Powell, Slater, Smout, Wardell, and Wheeler families.
