Frances Pollard was a member of Robbinsdale's first Library Board on April 6, 1904, and became a volunteer in the library. In 1921, Miss Pollard became the first full-time librarian. In 1926, the historic library building in Robbinsdale was completed by the Robbinsdale Library Club. In 1955, Miss Pollard retired after serving the library in one form or another for over fifty years.
