Mount Adams is a 13,937-foot alpine summit in Colorado’s Crestones, within the Sangre de Cristo Range of the Rocky Mountains. Located in the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness near Crestone, it stands on the divide between the drainages of San Isabel National Forest and Rio Grande National Forest. Though just below the state’s fourteeners, it remains a prominent and officially recognized thirteener. Its steep ridges and faces place it among the dramatic mountain terrain of southern Colorado, rising above high basins and lakes. Reached by Class 3 climbing routes from Willow Lake, Horn Creek, and North Crestone Lake, it is valued as a wilderness climbing objective and for its striking place on the skyline above Crestone.
