In 1792, a battle was fought on these grounds between the Indian Little Turtle and General Arthur St. Clair. These 12 acres, where Indians had trod, were donated to Fort St. Clair Park to be kept in their virgin state as they were when that battle was fought. The place was held sacred to the memory of Mary Lander and the Preble County Historical Society.
