Before 1766 to 1856, the Olde East Street Burying Grounds in Plainville, Connecticut, became the resting place of the town's earliest settlers, honored dead of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, civic leaders, businessmen, farmers, and a number of unrecorded persons whose names were lost but whose place of honor remained. The burial ground stands as a tribute to the contributions of these early citizens to the establishment of Plainville's sturdy character and to what later citizens owed the early dwellers of the Great Plain.
