The Manlius Historical Society was incorporated on October 31, 2001, to purchase the old First State Bank building, preserve its unique architecture, and reopen it as a museum. Its original 2001 officers were Dee McCune, president; Patti Hedrick, vice-president; Kenneth Rodgers, secretary-treasurer; and trustees Ona Andersen, Paul Andersen, Sandy Boender, and Lois Swanson. The society purchased the First State Bank building at 122 East Maple Ave., Manlius, Illinois, on April 9, 2002. The bank, designed by architect Parker Noble Berry in 1914, had failed and closed during the Great Depression in March 1933. After restoration, the First State Bank reopened as a museum on April 16, 2012.
