During the Clinton-Sullivan Campaign in September 1779, Lt. Thomas Boyd's scouting party was ambushed at this site by Tories and Indians, and sixteen Revolutionary War soldiers died here. This site is part of the Revolutionary War Heritage Trail, which links historic sites that tell the story of New York's decisive role in America's fight for independence.
