Old Halifax Road was the ancient road from Petersburg to Halifax, North Carolina. In May, 1781, Cornwallis marched from Halifax to Petersburg along this road during his invasion of Virginia. During the siege of Petersburg in 1864-65, Confederates hauled supplies over it, and parts of the Union and Confederate armies constantly passed along it.
