Marymoor Park, at the north end of Lake Sammamish in Redmond, is King County’s largest, oldest, and most visited park, serving as both a major recreation area and an important green space along the Sammamish River. Its grounds preserve layers of earlier history, including the historic Willowmoor farm and the Clise Mansion, created in the early 1900s by James Clise with landscapes by the Olmsted Brothers. The park’s current name comes from its dairy-farm era, when Ralph, Dean, and Lloyd Dodd operated Marymoor with Walter Nettleton from 1930 to 1964, naming it for Nettleton’s daughter Mary. Today it is a major site for sports, trails, gardens, concerts, and other community activities.
