The Lessley site consists of one large, rectangular platform mound built in two or more stages beginning in the Late Coles Creek or Early Plaquemine Period, about AD 1100-1350. Excavations in 2013 found that ceramic and stone artifacts indicate the mound remained in use until perhaps the mid-17th century, while post holes and burning beneath it show that people used the site before the mound was constructed. The Lessley family graveyard is located on the summit.
