Westcott House in Springfield, Ohio, is Frank Lloyd Wright’s only Prairie Style house in the state, designed in 1908 for Burton J. Westcott, Orpha Westcott, and their family. The property included a detached garage with stables and a pergola, reflecting both modern automobiles and older domestic life. The family’s prominence in Springfield was followed by personal loss and financial trouble in the 1920s, and after Burton’s death in 1926 the house declined under later owners and was altered into apartments. Acquired in 2000 and 2001 for preservation, it underwent a major restoration and reopened in 2005 as a museum and educational center devoted to Wright’s architecture and organic design.
