The Glasgow Presbyterian Church organized March 9, 1845, with ten members. Its first church building stood on Second Street between Market and Howard and was burned in October 1864 during the Battle of Glasgow. The congregation held services for some years in the Ladies Seminary Building. In 1866 the church was reorganized and purchased the brick building on the present site from the Baptists.
