The Canadian River formed the south line of Old Oklahoma, which was opened by the Run at 12 o’clock noon on April 22, 1889. Riders started at a river crossing near here, and many thousands entered the 2,000,000-acre tract to the north. Homes were planted and tent cities sprang up before nightfall.
