At Fullerton, two sawmills were built: the timber mill and the board mill. The timber mill produced large framing timbers, and the board mill produced boards of various sizes. Both sawmills were built entirely of steel, iron, and concrete, with no wood or other combustible materials used in their construction. The timber mill had three double cutting band saws, and the board mill had two double cutting bands and an 8' horizontal re-saw. Electric power was furnished by two 2,500 horsepower engines, and twelve high pressure 72”x18' boilers furnished the steam. The electrical plant, located between the two mills, furnished power to the mill, the town, and the residential areas of Fullerton. Power was provided 24 hours a day to the residential areas, which was uncommon for the time.
