Kerr Lake State Recreation Area is a North Carolina state park north of Henderson near the Virginia border, extending through woodlands in Vance and Warren counties along the shore of Kerr Lake, a large man-made reservoir. The park covers 3,376 acres, while the lake spans about 50,000 acres, creating a broad waterside landscape. Both are named for Congressman John H. Kerr, who supported the original lake project. The area is significant for offering public access to one of the region’s largest man-made lakes while preserving a substantial stretch of North Carolina woodland along the water.
