Samoa Cookhouse, opened around 1893 as part of Samoa, one of the last company-owned towns in the United States established by the Vance Lumber Company, is the last lumber camp style cookhouse still in operation in North America. The original building consists of the four left-most dormer windows, and major additions were made to house the kitchen staff. Meals have been served here continuously for more than 105 years, and only employees ate here until the late 1960s, when Johnny Fillman opened it to the public.
