Abraham Lincoln was chosen by the 2012-13 fourth grade class of Riverdale Elementary as a famous historical person associated with Indiana, and a wooden statue of him was dedicated in May 2013 as the first statue placed upon the St. Joseph River Greenway. The project was funded by the Dekko Foundation, crafted by local artist David Drake, and donated by Lutheran Foundation of NE Indiana and St. Mark Lutheran Church, St. Joe.
