Whisker Lake Wilderness is a 7,270-acre protected wilderness in northern Wisconsin, within the Chequamegon–Nicolet National Forest on the Wisconsin–Michigan border. Managed by the United States Forest Service, it includes six small lakes and takes its name from Whisker Lake. That lake covers 8 acres, reaches a maximum depth of 6 feet, and is composed about 99 percent of muck. Local usage held that the lake was named for shoreline trees whose appearance resembled chin whiskers.
