Squak Glacier lies on the southeast slopes of Mount Baker in Washington’s North Cascades, connected to Easton Glacier and the Talum Glaciers as part of the mountain’s upper ice cover. Its recorded movement reflects broader climate shifts on Mount Baker. From 1850 to 1950, it retreated 8,202 feet, or 2,500 meters. In a cooler, wetter period from 1950 to 1979, it advanced 305 feet, or 93 meters. That trend then reversed, and between 1980 and 2006 the glacier retreated another 869 feet, or 265 meters.
