Education
3
Cottonwood School was erected in 1897 after serving the area in three other locations since before 1870. When it was discontinued in 1975, it was the last functioning one-room schoolhouse in Riverside County. Reminiscent of rural schoolhouses throughout America, it taught basic subjects including geography, reading and arithmetic. Early students bore pioneer names including Tripp, Bergman, Ludy and Thompson.
