On the Jeff Burr farm in Second “Poplar Bottom” stood the site of the duel fought on May 30, 1806, in which Andrew Jackson was wounded. A half mile west of the site was the Will Tyler farm, where Charles Dickinson died. Miller's “Buttermilk Spring” lay south on Highway 75 two miles, on the old Burr farm.
