Anderson Ferry on Little River, 2 miles north of this point, was in operation during the early 1800's and served pioneers traveling to southwest Arkansas and Texas on the Old Southwest Trail. It provided a passage from Old Paraclifta to Mineola and Willow Springs (Rocky Comfort), along a segment of the Southwest Trail known as the Old Military Road. From Willow Springs the trail continued to Laynesport on Red River. The Anderson family operated the ferry throughout the first half of the nineteenth century.
