Pond Creek National Wildlife Refuge is a 27,300-acre protected wetland and bottomland hardwood forest in Sevier County, Arkansas, managed with Felsenthal and Overflow National Wildlife Refuges. Lying between the Cossatot River and the Little River, its rivers, sloughs, and oxbow lakes create broad habitat for diverse wildlife. The refuge is especially important for waterfowl because it sits where the Mississippi and Central flyways overlap, bringing species from both migration routes. Established in 1994 under the Emergency Wetlands Resources Act of 1986, it was first called Cossatot before being renamed in 1997 to preserve the traditional local name, Pond Creek Bottoms.
