Massee Lane Gardens in Fort Valley, Georgia, is a 9-acre botanical garden on the grounds of the American Camellia Society headquarters and is especially known for its camellia collection. Developed in the 1930s by David C. Strother on his larger property, it became the society’s permanent home when he donated it in 1966. The site expanded with a headquarters building named for Strother and a memorial greenhouse. Today it includes more than 1,000 camellia varieties, additional themed gardens and plantings, and an educational museum, making it both a major display garden and the institutional center of the American Camellia Society.
