Honey Hill-Boyd's Neck Battlefield near Ridgeland, South Carolina, preserves the ground of the Battle of Honey Hill, fought on November 30, 1864, as well as the Federal enclave on Boyd's Neck and other parts of the wider Honey Hill campaign, which lasted from November 29, 1864, to January 11, 1865. The landscape still retains much of its 1864 road network and extensive Civil War earthworks, giving it unusual historic and archaeological importance. One of the three largest Civil War engagements in South Carolina took place here, and the fighting is especially noted for the involvement of African American troops.
