On September 11, 2001, Americans suffered the collapse of World Trade Center Tower 2 and the attack on the Pentagon, while passengers on Flight 93 valiantly fought those who threatened the safety of thousands of Americans. President George W. Bush vowed on November 11, 2001, to remember every rescuer who died in honor and every family that lives in grief, and Todd Beamer's words, "Let's roll," came to symbolize the courage of Flight 93's passengers. Steel from the top of World Trade Center Tower 2, donated by the D.H. Griffin Wrecking Company of Greensboro, North Carolina, links this remembrance to Ground Zero, where the company was in charge of demolition operations. The remembrance also honors the brave men and women, military and civilian, who sacrificed for freedom during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as all Americans who have served.
