Chartiers United Presbyterian Church was founded in 1775 by Rev. Matthew Henderson. About 1781, its first log building stood here, followed by a second limestone building about 1805, a third brick building about 1835, and a fourth building at 112 W. Pike St. in Canonsburg in 1870; an education unit was added in 1955.
