Wilson Park occupies fifteen acres donated to Union County by Bobby and Jean Johnson in 1994 from the farm of Asbury and Hazy Wilson. Married in 1882 when he was 15 and she 17, the Wilsons operated a ferry and guest house on the Clinch River before moving to Union County in 1913. They were generous to the poor and faithful to their church and community. Their ancestry included Scot, German, English, and American Indian heritage, and among their ancestors were Raccoon Miller and Nicholas Gibbs, both of whom fought in the American Revolution.
