James Dietrich came to Bellefontaine in 1899 to establish his tailor business and built two buildings at 114 and 116 N. Main. Their first floors housed many businesses over the years, including a jewelry store in the 1930s and, from 1939 to 1954, Moore’s Bakery followed respectively by Winan’s and Randall’s Bakery. The second floor was expressly intended to serve as a lodge for the Elks.
