Lester Frank Ward, called the "Father of American Sociology," was also a geologist and Civil War veteran. Born in 1841 and dying in 1913, he spent his youth in Myersburg working with his brother, Cyrenus Osborne Ward, a labor historian, in their hub factory. He has been called "the American Aristotle."
