Bessemer Caboose #1985

Built in 1956 by International Car Co. in Kenton, Ohio, this caboose was first used as No. 527 by the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railroad. It is a 40-foot 4-inch class NE3 car. The Bessemer leased it from 1966 to 1982, when it served as a crew car in the Shenango yard. It was retired in 1982, and yellow back-up whistles are mounted above each coupler.
