Percy Quin State Park is a public recreation area in southwestern Mississippi near McComb, centered on four hundred ninety-acre Lake Tangipahoa, which was created by damming the Tangipahoa River. One of Mississippi’s nine original state parks developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, it began taking shape in 1935, with construction of the dam starting in 1936. Named for Mississippi politician Percy Quin, the park has grown into a major recreation and gathering place, offering boating, waterskiing, fishing, campsites, cabins, villas, a lodge, picnic areas, a nature trail, a conference center, and the eighteen-hole Quail Hollow golf course.
