Andrew Taylor Still, physician and founder of osteopathy, was born two miles southwest near the Natural Bridge of Lee County on August 6, 1828. He served in the War Between the States, established the first American school of osteopathy at Kirksville, Missouri, in 1892, and died there on December 12, 1917.
