The Strickler Site in Manor Township, Pennsylvania, preserves the remains of a large, stockaded Susquehannock village from the 17th century and offers important evidence of Indigenous life in the lower Susquehanna region. Archaeological excavations uncovered the patterns of nearly 13 longhouses and cemeteries with hundreds of interments, showing the settlement’s substantial size and enduring importance. Its listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 reflected the site’s significance for understanding Susquehannock history and lifeways.
